Well, it's official! No more talking about it, we are finally taking our careers in a new direction... or should I say many directions! Dan and I will begin our first travel nursing assignment in Kirkland, WA on July 14! We know very little of the place, but it is near Seattle and just about as far away as you can get from good old Tallahassee, FL. Dan, i think, is mostly excited by the cooler climate. Me, I am just glad the town is located on the water!
During the fiasco of trying to get a new job and relocate across the country, we decided to take on the task of selling our home! Luckily, the whole process has been fairly smooth and we have a fabulous realtor. Our house went on the market on a Thursday and that following Monday we had an offer! God is truly doing awesome things for us! As of July 2nd we will be free of a mortgage and officially travelers, or as we like to refer to ourselves, gypsies!
Bradley, (our dog and pride and joy:) ) is not sure what to think of all the packing, so he has decided to help us by eating the tape and markers, as well as insisting that everything we pack must have his hair all over it! Good to know for next time: keep all packing materials away from a confused and clearly stressed out dog! He is usually an easy going pup, so we are hoping the transition goes well from house living to apartment living.
Our awesome road trip to Washington will begin on July 7th and we hope to get to Kirkland in 5 days, stopping to see some good friends along the way! In the midst of packing up our lives to disperse between the parents' homes, we did a "mock" pack to see what all would fit in the back of our truck, since Dan was certain we would need a U-Haul. I keep trying to tell him that nomads like ourselves are minimalists who do not need U-Hauls. Somehow everything fits, even the golf clubs. Gypsies golf, right? All we are missing are the raincoats and galoshes!
