Forgive me for not being motivated to update the blog, i wasn't feeling so gypsy-like. The stresses of the real world caught up to us. Maybe reality hit during the depressing drive through Texas, or maybe it wasn't until we saw the "Welcome to Florida" sign, or it was probably when we got home only to realize we both had no job, no place to stay, and no money. Both parents have been so gracious to open their homes to us, and we are so thankful! Anyways, let me rewind and pick up where we left off.
Our next stop on the journey home was New Orleans. We met up with our good friends, Matt and Sam, for the weekend. Matt's aunt and uncle live in Slidell, so we stayed with them and had a blast. New Orleans itself was not as crowded as everyone had recalled, (they were all still sleeping off the party from Mardi Gras, we figured.) Even so, we enjoyed bar hopping at night and the good food and street performers during the day. On our last afternoon, we all played a little black jack at Harrah's, (with Matt's money of course, we are still at this point jobless and gambling would have been irresponsible,) and we all won some money. Both couples came up $75 in 5minutes and in the next hand, everyone lost, so we walked away.
After New Orleans, we stopped in to see Dan's brother, Todd, in Pensacola for the night. We had some drinks by the beach and watched the sunset. We were both so glad to see the white sand of Florida.
Once we got home, we busied ourselves with what every unemployed person busies oneself with: drinking and going to the beach. Those two things pretty much sum up the past month. In our spare time, we applied for jobs.
Thank God, we both have jobs now and we will start them on Monday. Dan will be working at the outpatient surgery center at CRMC and I will be working at the department of health with newborn screening. They are both day jobs, 5 days a week. I even have a cubicle! They will both be major changes for us, but we are excited to see where our careers will take us.
Thank you everyone for taking this journey with us. We are glad we could share this part of our lives with everyone. Now that we are just regular people again with boring lives, we probably won't be updating this blog as much and when we do, I am sure it will not involve moose-sitings and trips across the country. I will try to put up some pictures after this post, but it has not been cooperating with me since LA.
