Our fun trip back to sunny florida

Our journey back to sunny Florida began at 7:05pm on Wednesday night Pacific time and did not end until 12:42pm Eastern time the following day. A long trip, yes, although nothing can compare to a 5-day cross-country road trip with a crazy husband and depressed puppy. Anyways, we were picked up by a sweet Polish guy who drove us in a town car to the Sea-Tac airport. We felt like we were famous, or at least very important to be taken to the airport in this fashion. The seats were leather and Delila was playing softly in the background. The nice driver even opened my door and helped with the luggage! (By the way, we chose this mode of transportation simply because it was the cheapest, not because we are "ballers" as Dan would like say).

We flew with Northwest airlines and the workers were all very nice but we were packed in like sardines. Luckily, we had no delays and we were even able to nap a little on the flights. When we got off of the plane for our layover in Atlanta, the humidity and heat hit us like a wall; it took us twice the energy just to breathe! We quickly got over our initial change in the climate when we saw Chic-fil-A! No matter that we had already eaten during our layover in Detroit, (yes, it was our goal to stop at as many airports as possible on our way down and on our way back,) we made a beeline to the cashier and ordered two #1 breakfasts with cheese. It was heavenly! If they had had a cookies and cream milkshake you bet I would have ordered one of those as well!

The first leg of our trip home was spent in Ft. Myers to see Dan's family and to celebrate his grandma's birthday. It was great seeing everyone again and spending time with the family. For grandma's birthday, Dan's mother rented a limo for her and her friends. The limo took them to the fancy restaurant where we celebrated her birthday and ate dinner. The whole thing was outside on the cute little patio/courtyard area and, of course, the boys were sweating profusely and had to keep going inside to cool off! Aunt Nan made a DVD of all these great pictures of the family and of grandma's life, so we watched that before dinner and everyone was crying, it was really sweet.

In one area of the courtyard where people were sitting and enjoying their meals was a pesky mango tree. It would randomly throw its fruit at innocent people below. Somehow, Dan and I ended up eating directly under this tree and I was certain that a mango was going to fall right onto my drink, (why I was afraid for the safety of my drink, I do not know). When I was finished with my plate, a waiter came over to take it from me. As I was handing him my plate, he reached over and hit me on the head! No, I'm just kidding, but that is what I thought happened until I realized that I had just been assaulted by a mango, right on my head! Thank goodness mangos are soft, because the impact was nothing really, it didn't even hurt, it felt just like the waiter had thumped me on the head! Others felt the wrath of the mango tree, but no one else took one to the head. Uncle Dave and some other guests were hit on the shoulder and back, and even more mangos hit the tables. I was a little embarrassed but at least I did not suffer from a concussion or anything.

Towards the end of the evening, all of grandma's kids got up to give a toast and sing Happy Birthday. Well, I do not know who was leading this little song, that EVERYONE knows, but whoever it was skiped the whole second line and it started sounding more like Row Row Row Your Boat where all the lines are sung together by different people, what is that called? Anyways, Dan's dad stands up and starts yelling and everyone at our table is just laughing hysterically. It was the best Happy Birthday song I have ever been a part of!

After the relaxing weekend in Ft. Myers, we headed up to Tallahassee for more family time and to see some friends. We had such a great week with everyone! We celebrated Dan's birthday with family and friends at Bella Bella, which was excellent, and we spent the evening playing Cranium at Matt's house. Are we getting old when staying at home and playing games sounds more fun than actually going out? Dan went golfing with Matt one day and then went fishing with his Dad on his birthday. On Friday we went to AJ's and it was like a mini reunion of all of our friends, we had a great time, although Dan would probably say he had an excellent time! On Saturday night, we went to Josh and Sarah Young's (haha) wedding reception/party. We had a blast, and I had a little too much fun, like most everyone there! Sunday morning, Dan's mom made us delicious crab cakes benedict before we headed off to the airport. On the way to the airport, I was having a case of some IBS/day-after-drinking feelings so I was dreading the trip home, but I am telling you, 2 Imodium and 2 Maalox and I was cured in no time! Like I mentioned earlier, we are on a mission to see America one airport at a time, so we were just thrilled to go through Memphis and Minneapolis to get back to Seattle. The flights back to Seattle were pretty uneventful, but there was a man sitting next to Dan on one of the flights that was really weird and had white alligator skin shoes on, the man and the shoes were very strange. I wonder if he was a blogger, what would he blog about?
