Back to the old 9 to 5rrr

Today my cousin Kim, and her husband, Justin, welcomed baby Levi to the world! Yea! He weighs 5#2oz. Congrats guys!

Our first day of work was great! Actually, they did not have Dan officially in the system, so we ran into some minor glitches with name tags and such, but Dan did not seem too worried because he was sure he would get paid either way, as a nurse or as a stay at home dad, because he signed a contract. I told him he had to actually be a dad to carry that title. He says his son has four legs and a harry butt! I can't argue with him there, they are like two peas in a pod. Anyways, Dan does have a job after all, I guess all HR departments are the same, but everyone has been very nice.

There are 6 travelers total in our orientation group. One is actually traveling to the NICU with me and she has been a traveler for 12 years! Dan and I seem to be the lucky ones in the group because our apartment is only like a 2 minute drive from the hospital while a couple of the travelers have to commute from the next city. We also have a washer and dryer and a dishwasher which seem to be hot commodities. Who knew!

Today marked the beginning of our new exercise regimen. We will first take Bradley for a walk, which is something he definitely needs now that he is in the apartment all day. Next we head to the trusty clubhouse gym for some eliptical fun for me and weights for Dan. All was well until I thought I would do the eliptical for 30minutes, after being away from the whole working out thing for so long. I will not say how long I was able to last on that dumb machine, but lets just say that there is room for improvement!

Today when we were walking up to our apartment, Dan and I got a glimpse of our downstairs neighbor for the first time. He was on his patio area with a chair and a trash can behind it. His hair was messy so the first thing that crossed my mind was that he was going to cut his hair. Then I saw that he was holding a large kitchen knife with maybe a 6 inch blade, and I thought to myself, "well he is going to have a tough time cutting his hair with that..." What was he doing!? Dan says he thinks he was doing martial arts or something. I have my doubts. Maybe he was practicing his knife throwing skills or filleting a fish. But those things don't explain why he needed a chair and a trash can. It is an unsolved mystery for now!

I have posted some pictures of Kirkland and our drive on my shutterfly account. The ones labeled "Washington Road Trip" our from our trip up here and the Kirkland ones are ones that my mom took when they were up here for their Alaskan cruise. I will try to keep that site updated as well. http://www.kellistannard.shutterfly.com/
